#SCNWConsortium
The #SCNWConsortium is a networking event held annually at the same location and time as the annual coaches convention. *In no way are we associated with the AFCA or the AFCA Convention. This is purely a grass roots effort to attempt to help fix the hiring issues in football.
The purpose of this event is to host the top networking event in football while addressing the disparity of minority head coaches at the collegiate and NFL levels. There are many solutions that could help resolve this issue. The most pragmatic way is to try and attack the current hiring trends where deficiencies can be identified.
A majority of the head coaches being hired in football are coming from offensive coordinator roles. Offensive coordinators are being hired from quarterback and offensive line coaches. These two positions in particular are extremely underrepresented by minorities in the sport. On the defensive side of the ball most coordinator positions come from defensive back and linebacker position coaches.
My aim is to find the most talented minority coaches who aren't being hired for these position coach and/or coordinator opportunities. I will connect them with soon-to-be and current head coaches, athletic directors and general managers. If you are one of these decision makers please reach out to us below about attending! This annual networking event will provide face to face interactions and professional development for like minded individuals committed to increasing opportunities and #MakingAChange.
